Greg Tingle Hi
X. Very good to speak with you this afternoon regarding Australian school students
and Australia as a whole getting so sick and tired of the Australian government
lack of urgent action regarding our natural environment. As a passionate agent
for sports, media and the environment, I'm with the students going on strike on
this one. By protesting the students have invested and sacrificed one day of their
lives to stand up for what is right. Year after year Australians and indeed the
world are witnessing our environments destruction, as governments put profit and
big business ahead of the environment, the people, the wildlife, and are not doing
enough to change over to sustainable models with industry, fuel and energy sources.
The government keeps changing goalposts and guidelines on environmental policy,
and it's not in the environments or everyday citizens best interests. Governments
keep pandering to fossil fuel companies. Fracking should be outlawed, following
scientific findings regarding the damage dine by the practice in the United States.
My old high school was the Pittwater High School Solar Power Station circa 2008,
then the government moved the goal posts and a great initiative became no longer
financially viable. This really upset Dr Bill Holland, myself and hundreds of
students and parents. We the people have had enough of corruption in government,
in council and in big business. I encourage Fairfax Media and all Australian and
international media to stay with the story and don't let up the pressure. With
all the dissatisfaction maybe the Greens might stage a comeback but for now we
need all political parties to work together with the people and help save our
darn planet, starting here in NSW, Sydney, Australia. Greg Tingle aka 'The Maroubra
Seal' - Sports Agent, Media Agent, Environmentalist (moderate) and Photo Artist PS:
you don't have to look hard to find environmental damage close to home. I'm at
Maroubra Beach these days. We have had asbestos found at Jack Vanny Reserve on
the north end of Maroubra Beach, a few hundreds metres away from the rockpool,
Mahon Pool, which used to be a popular swimming spot. Further south of Maroubra
Beach is Malabar Beach and its accompanying rock pool which is notorious for pollution
and there have been dozens of reported cases of children and adults getting sick
after swimming there over the past number of years. It just happens to be located
close by to storm water. We don't have to be Albert Einstein, who no doubt the
students have studied, to join the dots on that one. Then there's the frequent
construction on Anzac Parade, Maroubra Junction, resulting in dust and dirt particles
flying everyone. I used to laugh a bit when I saw oriental students and adults
walking around with the facemasks on... no longer. Heath is more important. When
I walk around Maroubra Junction I put a handkerchief of part of my shirt over
my mouth in the areas worse effective by air pollution. This destruction of our
planet needs to stop. Keep this in the news. Unfortunately its the business of
politics, but People Power can and will win. That's the attitude we need. Thank
god for credible news media in Australia to help keep up the good fight and stick
it to corruption and evil companies that care for nothing other than dirty and
blood money. Thanks
Best Rgds Greg Tingle PS:
wonderful illustrations by Cathy Wilcox and Matt Golding. I have compliment them
already via social media. Very inspiring, truth telling and right on the money.
