A family of hoarders will be able to
stay in their beachside Sydney home after clearing
enough of their debts to stall a forced auction.
The Bondi property was set to go under the hammer
on Monday evening, to recover an estimated $160,000
in outstanding clean-up costs and legal fees owed
to the local council.
But the infamous 'Bondi hoarders', who've lived at
19 Boonara Avenue for 25 years, came up with enough
cash to keep the sheriff's office at bay late on Monday
afternoon.
It's understood that owner Mary Bobolas and her two
daughters, Elena and Liana, still have debts outstanding,
which if not paid could trigger another auction.
Waverly Council have reportedly tried to clean up
the property 15 times over the years.
The property has an estimated price of more than
$2 million.
