CROWN
boss Rowen Craigie has contradicted claims by fellow
casino operator Echo Entertainment that Australia
can support only one casino per capital city, arguing
the country needs a critical mass of luxury resort-style
properties to woo Asia's high rollers.
Reiterating
Crown's commitment to building a six-star hotel and
gaming venue in Sydney, where Echo operates The Star
under a sole casino licence, Mr Craigie said Australia
controlled just 2 per cent of the global VIP gambling
market, presenting a significant growth opportunity.
