Crown
Melbourne announced that, according to an agreement,
the Aussie Millions 2014 Main Event will be held as
a part of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour
(APPT).
In
an interview with PokerNews.com, Jim Preston, the
director for poker at Crown Melbourne, said that the
Aussie Millions and PCA schedules have been set in
such a way that more Asian players are likely to get
attracted to the event. He also said that the tours
will include 20 events instead of the usual 26, as
a result of which player fields are bound to be larger.
Preston
also said that a high-stakes tournament will be held
on February 11 in Studio 3, adding that details regarding
participants and structure will be revealed later.
Since participants will be missing the Super Bowl,
Crown Melbourne has presented a number of options,
such as ticketed events. Besides, the Super Bowl will
be shown live on Crown Melbournes large poker
room TV screen.
Preston
also revealed that Aussie Millions players can book
rooms at Crown Promenade Hotel for AU$275, the Crown
Towers Hotel for AU$400, and the Crown Metropol Hotel
for AU$325.
The
Crown Melbourne has been running a number of satellite
qualifiers to the event, and plans to run some online
satellites too.
Giving
tips to players who want to take part in Aussie Millions
2014, Preston said that they should book their rooms
at the earliest possible, pre-register in order to
avoid the rush, come early so that they can watch
the Aussie Open Tennis on January 26, 2014, take part
in the Chinese New Year celebrations at the Crown,
and subscribe to guides to Melbourne so that they
know whats happening around the town.
Players
who wish to qualify for the WSOP APAC when the Aussie
Millions is in progress can do so because the very
first satellite will be held on February 10, 2014.
Several
poker pros, such as Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Gus
Hansen, Erik Seidel, and others will take part in
the Aussie Millions.
