Cartoon icon Homer Simpson has taken part in a never before attemped TV stunt.

He appeared in a live segment to answer questions from callers.

In the long running sitcom's 595th episode, the yellow nuclear power plant worker discussed a range of issues from the car he drives, to the presidential election andhis thoughts on the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live.

Homer has been voiced by Dan Castellaneta since the shows inception in 1989.

Mr Simpson also assured audiences that the sitcom has no plans to end in the near future.
