Superhero fans out there... as you would know its almost time for Sydney, Australia to get their annual dose of Supanova - Superhero and pop culture mania again.

Superheroes remain a popular theme at the famous expo that tours most capital cities of Australia, including Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and the Gold Coast.

Fanboys and fangirls have been dressing up as their favourite characters for as long as we can remember, and this year the competition must be heating up between the boys and the girls, as creative arts and bodypainting / bodyart agency, Human Statue Bodyart, has been having its phone ringing off the hook with enquires from folks who will be attending the Sydney leg of the expo.

Ms Rinaldi said "We've known how popular superhero themes have been at both the expo, as well as in general for many years, but this year has been crazy. The phone has been ringing hot with enquiries from guys and girls who are interested in us helping them create the best superhero characters possible. So far it looks like The Hulk, Spider-Man and The Punisher will be the most popular with the boys, and Wonder-Woman and X-Men's Mystique with the girls. Avatar is popular with men and women. It's going to be very busy on the opening days so we have employed additional artists for the day. We are advising customers to book in early to avoid disappointment. We also advise people to buy their props to compliment their costumes, so that they get the best possible effect for the lowest possible price. When we've finished the superhero bodyart and makeup jobs we're going to fly over to Supanova Sydney to be part of all the fun in person".

Human Statue Bodyart has its Sydney art studio located in the Inner West region, so its only about 30 minutes from the expo, but allow extra time for traffic (and for the paint to dry)!

Marvel Comics / Marvel Entertainment superheroes appear to be a bit more popular than the DC Comics / Warner Bros. characters, but that situation may change. Neither Marvel or DC / Warner Bros. are official sponsors or advertisers at the popular pop culture expo, but that doesn't seem to have effected the exposure they receive.

Take time to dress your best, as we understand lots of news media will be attending with photographers and video cameras, so if you look great there's a decent chance you will make the news in some fashion!

Supanova Pop Culture Expo 2013

The Supanova Pop Culture Expo will offer guests the chance to participate in celebrity Q&A's, autograph and photograph sessions, exclusive film screenings, interactive competitions, cosplay tournaments and showcases of all things collectable.

Also featuring at this year's festival will be The Australian Timezone Supanova Pinball Championship. The light-hearted nature of the competition facilitates a new dimension of social interaction and the physicality of the game is what sets pinball apart. The championship has three stages including local tournaments, state finals and the national grand final, set to be held at the Brisbane Supanova from November 8 to 10. The winner will receive The Avengers Pro pinball machine.

The Supanova Pop Culture Expo will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds from Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14; the Gold Coast Exhibition and Convention Centre from Friday, April 19 to Sunday, April 21; the Sydney Showground from Friday, June 21 to Sunday, June 23; Claremont Showgrounds in Perth from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30; RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane from Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10; and Adelaide Showground from Friday, November 15 to Sunday, November 17.
