Actor Bradley Cooper has been cast as Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

After a week of speculation, Marvel Entertainment announced Friday that Cooper will join the cast of James Gunn’s film, lending his voice to the “tactically-minded Rocket Raccoon,” Marvel said in a statement.

Cooper joins Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista in the sci-fi adventure flick scheduled to land in theaters in Aug 2014. “Guardians of the Galaxy” follows a motley crew of characters that must come together to overturn a seemingly undefeated cosmic force.
