Matt Bungard 1.
St George Illawarra Dragons (Last Week: 1): Backed up their round one thumping
of Brisbane with a hard-fought comeback win over their arch-rivals, Cronulla. 2.
Wests Tigers (7): Well, would you look at this? The Tigers proved that round-one
win over the Roosters was no fluke as their dogged defence once again helped them
grind out two points against a competition powerhouse. 3.
New Zealand Warriors (3): The Warriors of old may well have blown this game at
home against the Titans after their impressive round one showing. Have they turned
a corner? 4. Penrith
Panthers (5): Two weeks, two big comeback wins for Anthony Griffin's men, who
need to find a way to play for 80 minutes. 5.
Melbourne Storm (2): A stunning loss for the reigning champions in Billy Slater's
300th game. Probably just a blip, but a huge clash now looms on Thursday against
the Cowboys. 6.
Brisbane Broncos (16): As expected, Wayne Bennett's men were not on the bottom
for long. A narrow win over the Cowboys which should have been far more comfortable. 7.
Newcastle Knights (11): Two from two after a gutsy comeback in Canberra - but
how will Mitchell Pearce handle his Roosters homecoming on Sunday? 8.
North Queensland Cowboys (4): Showed remarkable resilience to only narrowly lose
a game they were second best in on Friday night. Will be a different side when
Michael Morgan returns. 9.
Manly Sea Eagles (13): Where did that come from? After stuttering to a golden-point
loss in Newcastle, Manly were simply glorious on Sunday afternoon. 10.
Sydney Roosters (8): Got their first win of the Tedesco-Cronk era, but it was
Luke Keary who stole the show for them against the Bulldogs. 11.
Cronulla Sharks (6): Winless, but only a multitude of errors stopped them from
beating the Dragons. Huge chance to bounce back on Saturday night. 12.
Gold Coast Titans (10): Came crashing back down to earth after their win over
Canberra as they were easily taken down in New Zealand. 13.
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs (14): Their tough run to open the season doesn't
get much easier this week, facing the undefeated Panthers. 14.
South Sydney Rabbitohs (15): A baffling collapse after being 14-0 up. The loss
of Greg Inglis mid-game really hurt them. 15.
Canberra Raiders (12): Two weeks, two disastrous finishes for Canberra, who remain
unable to hold onto a lead late into games. 16.
Parramatta Eels (9): What a disaster. Completely and utterly embarassed by Manly
and a team that many had in their top four is bolted to the bottom. (Fairfax
