Before Brian Williams decided to temporarily step down from "NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams," Paul Heyman addressed the controversy surrounding the newscaster Friday night on a WWE Network live special. Williams has been embroiled in a scandal regarding comments he made about a previous trip to Iraq.

During the WWE Network special, Heyman explained that “lying isn’t always a bad thing. Even if you’re Brian Williams of NBC News.”

“Brian Williams is an entertainer,” Heyman said. “Anyone who’s on television is an entertainer. Brian Williams entertains you every weeknight. And it really doesn’t matter if you’re a comedian, a politician, a newscaster or someone who makes a living at World Wrestling Entertainment. If you’re on television, you are, by definition, an entertainer. ”
