THE Bondi Rescue lifeguards have seen their fare share of celebrities drop by Australia’s most famous beach, but one lifeguard says Malcolm Turnbull’s appearance is up there among the most memorable.
Lifeguard Anthony Carroll appeared on The Project this week to promote the new season of the show and Carrie asked him who drew the bigger crowd, the Prime Minister or Heidi Klum?
“Malcolm Turnbull, definitely,” he said, to the surprise of the panel.
“I love Malcolm, he’s doing a great job.”
Trainee lifegueard Anthony Glick took the opportunity to give the nation’s leader some free advice.
“Have a good New Years and take it easy, you’ve done a good job.”
The Prime Minister then thanked them for “keeping us safe”.
He is among many notable personalities who’ve dropped by Bondi to say hello to the lifeguards, with Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton, Alessandra Ambrosio, David Hasselhoff and Prince Harry all stopping for a photo opportunity.
The second episode of Bondi Rescue, which airs tonight on Ten, is an action-packed affair in which two thrill seekers take a gamble which could cost them their life.
The rule at Bondi is someone needs to be patrolling the tower at all times regardless of what is happening in the surf. Jesse spots some swimmers in trouble at the north end and Chris, the newbie, and Jake are left to rescue them on their own.
Bondi Rescue is on tonight at 7.30pm on Ten.
