Sam Branson's Sundog Pictures is co-producing Quest for Space, a new Brian Cox documentary on commercial space travel and exploration.

There is of course the relationship between Sam Branson and his father Richard, owner and top brass of Virgin Galactic, however Media Man understands the documentary will be most credible, despite Sir Richard being a major player in a commercial space travel industry.

The doco will focus on space exploration and space mining generally and would not be a puff piece for Richard Branson's firm.

A spokeswoman said that it also promised to profile the work of other bodies including NASA and Deep Space Industries and Blue Origin – the aerospace manufacturer and spaceflight service founded by Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos.

Sam is aware that the world's eyes will be watching this space, and we're sure he's going to do a stellar job.
