While
James Packer may have been averse to having his photo
taken during his recent sojourn aboard the family
tinnie the Arctic P in Bora Bora, some of his crew
are not quite so camera shy.
On
the contrary, in fact.
Well,
when you have an 88-metre former ice breaker turned
floating gin palace at your pleasure, why not make
the most of things when the "big fella"
is away?
Packer's
crew are known as being among the most loyal on the
high seas, going that extra mile to protect the privacy
of various celebrities who frequently get on board,
from Robert de Niro and Mariah Carey to Karl Stefanovic
and his new squeeze, part-time model Jasmine Yarbrough.
PS
hears Packer's most recent visit to Bora Bora was
very much a low-key affair, with his three young children
enjoying some downtime with their father, although
Packer was clearly sensitive about being seen throwing
wild parties while his Crown staff were behind bars
in China.
But
it is when those Triple A guests have left the ship
that the party really gets going, judging by some
of the images that have managed to find their way
onto social media.
Indeed
PS was rather taken with a shot of some of the crew,
a posse of beefcake, smoking cigars and wearing their
fetching Arctic P bathrobes lounging on the recently
refurbished "beach club" deck, no doubt
giving the newly installed glass-bottomed swimming
pool and jacuzzi a good work out.
Apparently
the pool, jacuzzi and a huge dining table are designed
to stow flush with the teak deck at the flick of a
switch when not in use so the space can be utilised
for other activities, such as dancing, which, PS understands,
is not quite as common these days now Carey's songs
are no longer being played on a loop over the ship's
PA system.
PS
has confirmed there have been discussions recently
between Packer and his sister Gretel about the transfer
of ownership to her of the 88-metre vessel, originally
built as an ice breaker but converted by the late
Kerry Packer into the ultimate pleasure craft, complete
with a high-tech communications room that would once
have rivalled Air Force One.
Gretel
is reportedly keen to keep the 47-year-old ship in
the family, while delivery is expected in coming months
of Packer's superyacht that PS first wrote about nearly
four years ago.
Tipped
to be a whopping 120 metres long, it will be even
larger than the Arctic P. Packer's personal cruise
liner has been under construction in Europe under
the watchful eye of Packer's close buddy, former Sydneysider
Matthew "Ched" Csidei, who these days calls
Monte Carlo home.
Miranda
Kerr and her moneybags billionaire
While
Miranda Kerr's silence on her "romance"
with Malaysian billionaire Jho Low, which last week
resulted in her handing over $11 million worth of
sparkly jewels from her Los Angeles safe deposit box
to US government agents, has been deafening, PS has
managed to unearth a few more details about the model
and the moneybags' seemingly unlikely connection.
Among
the jewels Kerr handed over, according to The Wall
Street Journal, was a 11.72 carat heart-shaped diamond
pendant, a Valentine's Day gift in 2014 from former
"boyfriend" and Malaysian financier Low.
PS
can reveal that later that year, in August, Kerr and
her Californian-based agent Kristal Fox, enjoyed Low's
hospitality aboard his $250 million superyacht Equanimity
while it was bobbing off the idyllic coastline of
Corfu.
