With
"The Wolverine" in theaters this year and
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" hitting the
big screen next May, now is a great time to discuss
the work of writer Chris Claremont. The writer, who
guided the X-Franchise from 1975 to 1991, was responsiblealong
with undeniable help from artists Frank Miller and
John Byrnefor penning the storylines that served
as the jumping off point for the two feature films.
MTV Geek caught up with Claremont at Wizard World
Chicago, where he revealed that he's been asked to
play a small role in next year's mutant movie.
"I've
been asked to kind of, maybe be around for a little
consultation," said Claremont when asked about
"X-Men: Days of Future Past." "I won't
have a lot of input at all, but it's nice that they
asked. I'm looking forward to seeing it on screen.
It was fun to write, and fun to see what John Byrne
and Terry Austin did [with the art], and now we get
to see what it's like on the big screen."
Claremont
also had thoughts about "The Wolverine,"
a character that he left his mark on. "I loved
it. It was a lot of fun. I mean, it may not have been
the Wolverine I thought of, but it's still Wolverine.
It was a lot of fun and I'm glad to see these characters
having their day in the sun on a bigger stage than
in the comics."
Be
sure to check out the rest of the interview over at
MTV Geek, where you can find out if Claremont's interested
in having Stan Lee-esque cameos in Fox's films.
