The film was produced by the films division of WWE, called WWE Studios, and distributed in the United States by 20th Century Fox. It was release on DVD and Blu-ray on December 29, 2009.

The Marine 3: Homefront is an upcoming American action film, starring professional wrestler Michael "The Miz" Mizanin and directed by Scott Wiper. It is scheduled for release on March 5, 2013. It is a sequel to The Marine starring John Cena and The Marine 2, starring Ted DiBiase, Jr (son of the wrestler 'The Million Dollar Man', Ted DiBiase). The film was leaked to torrent sites on 25 February, 2013, 8 days before it's scheduled release.
