By James Ryder
(Web Is Jericho)
Chris
Jericho has been cast as legendary professional wrestler
Gorgeous George in Prime Videos upcoming Muhammad
Ali limited series The Greatest. Deadline
broke the casting news, reporting that Jericho will
first appear as George in episode four of the eight-part
historical drama. All eight episodes are scheduled
to premiere on November 4, with Jaalen Best starring
as Muhammad Ali. The project is the first authorized
scripted series about Alis life and was made
with the involvement of his estate, including his
widow Lonnie Ali as an executive producer.

Gorgeous
George, real name George Wagner, became one of professional
wrestlings earliest mainstream television celebrities
through a deliberately extravagant presentation that
stood apart from his contemporaries. His bleached
curls, ornate robes, arrogant interviews and elaborate
entrances made him a major attraction during wrestlings
early television boom. George met the young Ali in
1961, when the future heavyweight champion was still
known as Cassius Clay. Ali later credited the wrestlers
swagger and crowd-baiting style as an influence on
the way he promoted himself and recited boasts.
The
Greatest also stars Omari Hardwick as Cassius Clay
Sr., Dana Gourrier as Odessa Clay, Amin Joseph as
Sonny Liston, Giovanni Ribisi as Angelo Dundee and
Michael Ealy as Malcolm X. Ben Watkins created the
series and serves as an executive producer alongside
a group that includes Michael B. Jordans Outlier
Society. Jericho has continued adding acting work
alongside wrestling, appearing this year in CBS
Tracker and Apple TVs Margos Got Money
Troubles. He is also set to appear in the second season
of Dexter: Resurrection.

Bio
Chris
Jericho (WWE.com)
There
is one thing you can say about Chris Jericho
the guy knows how to make an entrance.
During
summer 1999, the WWE Universe spent weeks wondering
about a millennium clock that counted down on Raw.
They got their answer on Aug. 9, when the clock struck
zero and Y2J appeared. Audaciously interrupting The
Rock, the confident new competitor immediately introduced
himself as a Superstar who wasnt afraid to make
a statement.
Son
of former NHL standout Ted Irvine, Jericho was born
in Manhasset, N.Y. and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba,
Canada. A wrestling fan from an early age, he trained
at the Hart Brothers School of Wrestling and made
his ring debut when he was only 19. Starting out in
the frigid armories of Canada, Jericho went on to
perform across the globe in places like Mexico and
Japan, infusing different international styles into
his repertoire along the way.
After
reaching new prominence in ECW, Jericho hit WCW in
1996, winning multiple championships with an expanding
legion of loyal Jerichoholics in his corner.
Growing frustrated with the locker room politicking
that plagued the company, he sensed a brighter future
in WWE and broke the walls down on Raw with his thrilling
arrival in 1999.
Where
some people would crack under the weight of such a
hyped debut, Jericho reveled in it. In the years that
followed, The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla grabbed
a record nine Intercontinental Titles, seven WWE and
World Tag Team Titles, and multiple Slammy Awards,
all while using his controversial show The Highlight
Reel to drive his numerous adversaries absolutely
bananas. The crown jewel of his impressive six World
Title reigns came on Dec. 9, 2001 at Vengeance, when
he beat The Rock for the WCW World Heavyweight Title
and Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWE
Championship to earn the distinction of becoming WWEs
first Undisputed Champion.
Jericho
has left and returned to WWE on several occasions.
During his various hiatuses, he has pursued acting,
toured with his heavy-metal band Fozzy and penned
several books about his remarkable career, but hes
always found his way home to show the Universe that
hes still got life left in the tank.
Jerichos
most recent tenure with WWE saw him form an unlikely
partnership with Kevin Owens, curate The List of Jericho
and seize his first United States Championship.
Adding
the names of stupid idiots to The List
and winning matches in equal measure, everything was
going great for Jericho until he was betrayed by Owens
during the Festival of Friendship when
KO brutally attacked him and concluded the beating
by hurling him through the LED screen that had been
set up in the ring, leading to a heated months-long
rivalry between the former friends.
With
the heart of a lion, the voice of a rocker and the
will of a champion, Chris Jericho will always be there
to break down walls, barriers and opponents in equal
measure.

Jericho To Star In New Movie - May 2023

Chris
Jericho has done a variety of movie cameos throughout
his career including MacGruber, Jay
and Silent Bob Reboot, KillRoy Was Here
and Terrifier 2, among others.
Now,
Variety
has revealed that Jericho will star in a role
similar to his personal life in the UPtv original
film, Country Hearts. The movie will premiere
sometime this fall.
The
films summary says the plot follows the
daughters of country music and rock & roll royalty
who find themselves at a crossroads, torn between
following their dreams of performing or helping their
father run their up-and-coming horse breeding business.
Between old flames, new love, best friends and family
theyll all need the strength of each
other to face the next steps.
The
film also stars Lance McAuley, who is best known for
her recurring role as musician Emma Rogers on Hallmarks
Chesapeake Shores, and as Liza in the Netflix apocalypse
drama How It Ends starring Forest Whitaker.
Other cast members include Brendan Morgan (The
Handmaids Tale), Katerina Maria (A
Beautiful Rush) and Michelle Nolden (The
Time Travelers Wife).
After
playing evil priests, insane asylum security chiefs,
redneck social media whistle blowers and cult leaders,
I jumped at the chance to play a nice guy for once
in Country Hearts! Jericho said
in a statement. I was able to flex my acting
chops and my character range in these movies and it
was a blast to play Bones Jamieson
father, ranch
owner and rock star
which basically mirrors me
in real life!
A
sequel, Country Hearts Christmas, has
already been greenlit.

Jericho wants to pitch pro wrestling for the Olympic
Games - December 2022
"I
literally want to go in front of the IOC, the International
Olympic Community, and pitch pro wrestling as an Olympic
sport. Now, you might go, 'How can you do that? It's
all,' now, hold on. Stop right there. Gymnastics,
pairs gymnastics, figure skating, pairs figure skating,
what is that? It's two people working together to
put on the best performance possible ... There is
no way we could not do the same with pro wrestling."

Chris
Jericho interviewed about wrestling, his rock band
Fozzy and more...

As
noted earlier, Chris Jericho appeared on AfterBuzz
TV's RAW aftershow last Tuesday night. Thanks to AfterBuzz
TV for sending this recap of his appearance:
WWE
Superstar Chris Jericho made an appearance on a special
edition of AfterBuzz TV's RAW aftershow Tuesday night.
The wrestling legend was invited on the network to
discuss his return to WWE and the new Syfy show, Robot
Combat League, which Jericho hosts. In the interview,
Jericho discusses his recent RAW Active match with
CM Punk, why his return to wrestling is different
than other Superstars, and how his now infamous jacket
came to fruition.
Growing
up, Jericho wanted to be two things: a pro wrestler
and a rock star. Now the 42-year-old wrestler is in
the middle of yet another return to the WWE and just
embarked on a multi-day Australian tour with his band,
Fozzy.
"This
past month has been one of my best months ever,"
Jericho says.
Jericho
is one of the few Superstars who has not only been
able to parlay his wrestling career into other aspects
of the entertainment industry, but also committed
enough to give 100% every time he reenters the ring.
He
tells AfterBuzz, "Nothing against what Rock does
or Brock or any of those guys, when I come back, I
don't just come back for Monday Night Raw. I do the
house shows."
Since
Jericho's return, he's reignited his feud with fellow
Superstars, Dolph Ziggler and CM Punk. He recounts
Feb 4th's WWE RAW Active match between himself and
CM Punk, where the writers created a poll to designate
which wrestler, out of Chris Jericho, Randy Orton
and Rey Mysterio, would face Punk. A flash poll earlier
in the week, predicted Orton to be the challenger
and the writers told Jericho to not prepare with Punkhe
would face Wade Barrett.
The
afternoon of the match, Jericho thought, "I knew
I was going to win [the RAW active poll]," and
he was right. He says the writers were shocked the
fans chose him over Orton.
Jericho
joked, "I went to the writers' room and said,
'All you guys with your flash polls, go F yourself,
you can suck it.'"
Later
in the interview, Y2J talks about how every time he
returns to wrestling he wants to do something fresh.
"I've
always wanted to be the Paul Stanley of wrestling...the
ultimate frontman or lead singer who commands the
crowd. Whenever I come back I try to do something
different," says Jericho. "I had this idea...Googled
and then found this designer, Jonathan Logan. Went
to visit him in the Fashion District and didn't really
know anything about him. Turns out he makes all of
Brad Pitt's stuff, all of Justin Bieber's stuff, David
Lee Roth's stuff."
After
collaborating on a design, Logan suggested adding
lights to the jacket as he had done for an Alecia
Keys outfit, thus creating the iconic glowing jacket
Jericho sports at shows.
As
cool as the jacket is, Jericho says, it's also a hassle.
"There's little wires and they snap all the time.
I constantly have to [fix] them." Jericho says
WWE's prop guys yell at him for having to fix the
jacket so frequently.
Jericho
divulges that the entire right side of his jacket
broke before his intro at Wrestlemania XXVIII last
year. "I had to turn and walk backwards and cheat
the camera," says Jericho, "I didn't want
anyone to see that the whole right side of my jacket
had gone out...this was literally two minutes before
I had to go to the ring. I was furious. I could have
given a crap about the match, all I cared about was
my stupid jacket."
When
asked about traveling with the jacket, Jericho mentioned
an instance when he was traveling and he originally
placed his jacket in his check luggage, however, the
luggage was overweight. Jericho had to remove the
jacket and take it as carry on, despite not having
a bag to put it in.
"I
had to ask [TSA] for a garbage bag. I put my big fancy
jacket in a garbage bag and put it through security.
One guy called me out and said 'Jericho man, that's
your jacket? You can't keep it in a plastic bag.'"
Another
recent change in appearance are Jericho's new tattoos.
He says, "I just thought it would be cool to
get a tattoo, something that means something to me.
It's something I've always wanted to do and now was
the time to do it."
On
Jericho's new show, Syfy's Robot Combat League, Jericho
enthuses, "It's Real Steel with actual Robots."
He says it's nothing like Mick Foley's robot show,
Robot Wars.
"The
first thing that I thought when I was in the arena
and they brought the robot out, if it hadn't stopped
walking I would have turned around and ran away. It
was that intimidating," Jericho says, "We've
now created robots that can kill humans, and in 10-years
when they take over the planet, you'll know you saw
it first on Robot Combat League."
Robot
Combat League premieres on Syfy Feb. 26th at 10/9c.
