Roman Reigns Reportedly Upset With Kevin Owens After WWE WarGames Match - 28th November 2022

WWE Survivor Series WarGames saw the end of the dissension between The Bloodline, as Sami Zayn showed his loyalty to the group, turning on his former best friend Kevin Owens in the process, leaving way for Jey Uso to earn the victory in the match. Although the ending of the match seemed to go off without a hitch to fans watching the shows close, according to Fightful Select, that wasn't necessarily the case.

Before the match's final sequence, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Owens trade blows with each other, with Fightful reporting that there was an "unplanned spot" involved in their battle that made "The Tribal Chief" upset. According to Fightful, Reigns walked backstage after the match complaining about a possible "ruptured ear drum," furious with how the spot didn't happen the way it was supposed to, detailing that Reign's issue was "expletive-filled."

Although Fightful did describe the situation as an issue between Reigns and Owens, the report did suggest that there wouldn't be any "extended heat" involved, calling it more of a "heat of the moment" situation. With two of WWE's biggest stars involved in the discrepancy, it's also being reported that there was no physical reaction from either superstar and that many involved in the situation "expected the two to be able to coexist for work purposes."

Following the issue, neither Reigns nor Owens would make an appearance during WWE's Post Show Press Conference, with Fightful stating that this was "planned." The press conference only saw Zayn appear alongside Paul Heyman from the Men's WarGames match, with Zayn continuing to reiterate his allegiance to The Bloodline, putting to rest any rumor that the group will sour on his involvement in the faction.

Bio

For some, one versus all sounds like an unwinnable contest, a hellish punishment or a never-ending nightmare. For Roman Reigns, it was just another day at the office. Or in the case of The Big Dog, another day at the "Head of the Table."

The agile, imposing juggernaut has been told his entire life that he cannot accomplish his goals. And since day one of his arrival in WWE, he has proven his naysayers wrong in the language of broken bodies and shattered Superstars who thought they had his number. Whether it was finishing opposing teams off as the enforcer of The Shield or steadily grinding his way toward the WWE Championship as a solo competitor, Reigns has made a lasting impression on anyone who’s come into contact with him.

On his own, The Big Dog has never turned away from a challenge and has proved himself time and time again, battling everyone from Brock Lesnar to John Cena to a WrestleMania showdown with The Undertaker that brought the legendary Deadman his second loss at The Showcase of the Immortals.

At SummerSlam 2018, Reigns finally vanquished his greatest rival when he defeated Brock Lesnar to win the Universal Title. He then set out to be what he had always been, a fighting champion. That all changed on the Oct. 22 edition of Monday Night Raw, when Reigns announced that the leukemia that he had lived with for 11 years had returned. Because of this, he relinquished the Universal Title and returned home to fight it. Thankfully, Reigns' battle was a successful one, and he returned to Raw with renewed focus, The Big Dog battled Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 35 and defeated The Scottish Psychopath, proving that he was as powerful as ever.

However, after missed several months in 2020, The Big Dog made a startling return after "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt defeated Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam, ruthlessly attacking both men in a moment that no one saw coming. From there, Reigns enlisted the assistance of Paul Heyman as his special counsel, recaptured the Universal Title, subjected his cousin Jey Uso and became firmly entrenched as the face of Friday Night SmackDown. His status as SmackDown's franchise player was solidified when he selected first overall in the 2021 WWE Draft.

With his family by his side, Reigns formed The Bloodline, consisting of himself, his cousins The Usos and Solo Sikoa and his Special Counsel Paul Heyman. Since The Bloodline have formed, they have run roughshod all over WWE, with Reigns becoming the longest reigning Universal Champion and also capturing the WWE Championship in "The Biggest WrestleMania Match in history" by defeating WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38. With Sami Zayn joining The Bloodline as an "Honorary Uce", The Bloodline is stronger than ever.

Roman Reigns calls himself “The Head of the Table” who provides for all and puts food on the table, and he refuses to accept anything less than complete respect from any Superstars that come in his “Island of Relevancy.” And he has shown time and time again that those who show him or his family disrespect will pay a very painful price.

Interivew highlights:

If his famous family members (ie: The Rock, Afa and Sika of the Wild Samoans, Rikishi, The Usos, etc.) helped influence his wrestling style:

My natural movement, it’s hereditary I’ll say. We all are able to move and do pretty athletic things. My family is the majority of the influence, but going down to FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling, now NXT – WWE’s developmental program) and wrestling all of those guys down there – Dr. Tom Prichard, Joey Mercury, Bill Demott, Norman Smiley, Steve Keirn. Even to this day, talking to Triple H and with all of these resources we have here. When it comes down to it, I try to create a different style. A little more brutal. You can watch fight scenes or MMA and see how they move. There have been a lot of things that influenced me, but I can only be me. That’s what I try to focus on, making everything my own.

His favorite moment so far:

I have to say WrestleMania. I look around and there are guys who have never performed on that stage. Just to say that we did that our very first year and opened the show. That’s a big deal for all three of us. There are a lot of cool moments we have had. When we wrestled The Undertaker, Kane and Daniel Bryan in London (during a recent European tour) – there’s a shot of us flying in on a helicopter. What some people don’t know is that we did a live event earlier that day. We opened that show and then we jumped on a helicopter and flew all the way to London. We went out there and wrestled three of the biggest stars of all time. The next night, we put (The Undertaker) out. That was a surreal moment. WrestleMania and working with The Undertaker are phenomenal moments that I won’t forget for the rest of my life.

If he took notes on the Spear from watching Edge and Goldberg:

Even to this day, watching matches, I don’t watch the maneuvers. I feel like I am athletic enough to do any maneuver. It’s not the moves, but what you do between them. The mannerisms are where the money is. A spear is a spear. I’d like to think that I deliver the best one ever seen, but that’s up to the fans to judge. It did help playing football all of those years.

Message to the members of military:

First of all, thank you. We WWE Superstars have a lot of gratitude for our Armed Forces. The fact that they fight for our freedom and allow us to live this life that we live as Americans – we can’t thank those guys and girls enough. It’s a pleasure and an honor to entertain them.

What he has planned for 2014 and the recent dissension with Dean Ambrose:

As far as The Shield – for the past 13 months, it seems like we’ve done it all. People are going pretty nuts about what we’ve done, but there’s so much left to do. Whether we’re working together or fighting each other, there’s just so much more to see. It’s going to be the year of The Shield, whether we’re together or not.
