Partners National Security Advisor Mark Watson says
the growth of the quadrilateral grouping of Australia,
the US, Japan and India is "very, very significant".
US
President Joe Biden, along with Japanese Prime Minister
Yoshihide Suga, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison had a
video link-up on the weekend to discuss global coronavirus
vaccinations and matters in the Indo-Pacific region.
"Even
though the Quad grouping didn't specifically call
China out by name, they discussed the challenges posed
by China in private," Mr Watson told Sky News.
He
said the federal government has had a "couple
of very important foreign policy wins here but it's
kind of got drowned out by other issues in Australia".
