Bondi
beach is said to be one of Australias most iconic
beaches, attracting an estimate of over one million
visitors per year. Tourists come for the waves, the
culture and the prime location, set just outside of
the city in the eastern suburbs. With that in mind,
you can imagine how the café culture would
be booming here, and with the competition amongst
it very strong, you may want a guided of where you
should be hanging out this summer.
Sometimes
deciding on the perfect spot for a mid day refresher,
or that perfect Sunday brunch spot can be a difficult
one. Maybe youre just looking to relax and embrace
the sea view with an iced cold coffee close to the
sea, or you may prefer to people watch amongst the
hustle and bustle of Bondi's famous Hall street, where
youll be spoilt for choice of the best coffee
culture around.
The
day starts earlier than usual in Bondi, with surfers
catching that fresh morning wave at sunrise and fitness
enthusiasts grabbing their pre-workout espresso. Just
being amidst it makes you feel alive and ready to
be apart of the beautiful Bondi culture. Even if you
only have a day or two to spend here, youll
be leaving with your heart feeling full.
Bondi
boasts an ambiance of café culture, wherever
you walk youll find cafes beaming with both
Bondi locals and tourists alike, getting their fix
of coffee and culture. Weve been checking out
a number of cafes all over Bondi beach and were
pretty sure weve nailed it with some fresh recommendations
of where you should be hanging out, and letting you
in on what we feel gives each place their uniqueness;
which has guaranteed them to make this ultimate must
visit list.
Heart Cafe
Whats
not to love about this place? The constant filled
seats throughout the café is a giveaway for
how popular this place is. The food is unbelievable
with something for everyone and their treats and pastry
section on the counter is all so hard to resist! This
place is just delightful, theres nothing better
than spending your morning sitting up at the window,
people watching with a toasted pastry and chai latte
(if youre into that kind of thing).
Of
course we love the amazing food and coffee here as
well as the amazing service, but what we most love
is the idea behind the Heart Cafe; they give back
to the community, so with your purchase you will help
to give hope and transform young lives around Sydney,
giving to the Wayside Chapels Wingspan project.
So stopping by this place isnt just for a coffee,
its for a meaningful experience and coming here
really will warm your heart and soul.
The
Nine
Heres
one for the social media enthusiasts, this place could
quite well be sitting in high rankings to be one of
the most Instagram worthy cafes for coffee in Bondi;
we love their unique coffee designs with little koala
faces greeting their customers when their coffee arrives.
We really do love the little touches that make this
place feel so special; edible flowers, clay coffee
mugs and insta worthy latte art.
The
simple nautical interior here also adds to its charm,
with cute little pot plants for an extra added touch,
the café boasts simple chic character. We are
sure youll love it just as much as we did.
Gertrude
and Alice
Something
a little different from the standard Bondi coffee
shop, this place is one to lay low and hide from the
hustle and bustle of the beaches. You feel like youre
in a secret little library with an array of books
to choose from, you really could get lost here with
your head in a book for hours, just reading the day
away... armed with a coffee of course. This place
has character and is so different to most in Bondi,
if you love to read you may end up getting lost amongst
the hundreds of books, but if youre not into
reading, stop by for a coffee even if just for the
experience.
One
other thing that we really love about Gertrude and
Alice is their book exchange option out the front,
where you can leave an old book and pick yourself
up some fresh reading material in exchange; youll
never have to buy another book again.
Speedos
Located
just north of Bondi beach, this café is the
ultimate spot for both sea views and great food, thats
if youre lucky enough to grab a table outside,
as its pretty bustling here on weekends. Again,
Speedos is another insta worthy, must visit café
whilst in Bondi, popular with local citizens and tourists
alike, their edible flowers and brightly coloured
dishes are worth a snap! We absolutely love the food
and location, but more importantly we love the portion
sizes here; you really wont leave feeling hungry
thats for sure!
ps:
the pancake stake is a must try (as well as a table
pleaser) if you have a sweet tooth!
Shuk - summer pop up!
We
thought wed add this one for the pastries lovers,
they specialise in freshly baked pastries and they
are to die for! Their summer pop up shop is located
conveniently on Campbell Parade, so right opposite
the beach! Which is why we feel this is the perfect
grab and go coffee stop before hitting up the beach,
coffee and almond croissant in hand.
Shuk also have another cafe in Bondi where you can
indulge in the most amazing spread of foods; youll
be spoilt for choice.
XSespresso
For
all those with a sweet tooth, this may possibly be
the spot for you! XSespresso offer specialty coffees,
including a Nutella latte which really will satisfy
that sweet tooth. If thats not enough however,
they have an amazing menu full of sweet treats and
deserts including baked warm cookie dough with ice
cream and waffles galore. We would save this place
for an afternoon treat whilst in Bondi if you fancy
mixing it up a little. Even if youre not a lover
of sweet things, XSespresso has an extensive breakfast,
lunch and dinner menu; they really do cater for everyone.
Although
we chose this place for their amazing coffee and dessert
options, we also love the interior and the outdoor
seating sections. Either people watch out the front
during the day time or head through to the back of
the coffee shop to find a tucked away garden seating
area, filled with hanging tea lights and a shelter
of plants; the perfect dinner spot.
Sonoma
Sonoma
coffee is located in easy walking distance just off
from the beach, and is a great place to get out of
the sun for a mid morning break. Another pastry specialist,
with freshly baked bread on sale everyday and a variety
of fresh pastries and sandwiches to choose from, but
if youre a little more hungry they also have
a great menu with some more options. We love the express
coffee window option here which separates the grab
and go coffee lovers to those who want to sit in and
take the weight off for a while, whilst enjoying the
smell of freshly baked goods.
Two Forks
This
small little cafe just on Hall street is perfect for
the ultimate afternoon chill out, unwind here with
calming music, a cozy ambiance and delicious coffees.
We love their comfy interior inside with the view
of the street, you feel amongst the Bondi life, but
with a chilled out vibe. Spending an hour in here
you leave feeling super relaxed and regrouped.
The Well
If
youre a fitness enthusiast this may be the spot
for you, this is a cafe come wellness centre and really
does have everything. If youre an early rises
you could dedicate a few hours to coming here and
still have time for the beach. Start your day with
an early morning beach workout as part of their gym
class offers, or even try out some of their yoga,
pilates or strength training classes. Afterwards you
can relax and unwind in the steam room and then treat
yourself to a well earned breakfast in the cafe. The
Well really does have the full package on offer here
and would be perfect for those looking to get activate
whilst in Bondi.
Even
if working out isnt on the top of your to do
list whilst visiting, stop by The Well for one of
the best coffees you may taste in Bondi. Ultimate
coffee lovers, we think this could be the place for
you, weve set it high on our list of favourites
for a great coffee!
Cali Press
Weve
also chosen Cali Press as one of our must visits,
its great, again, for grab and go food or even
to enjoy the vibes of Hall street, sitting on their
communal tables youll feel part of the Bondi
culture, people watching, making friends and just
chatting the day away.
Cali Press specialise in healthy juices and shakes
and have a great selection of food too. We love that
they are all about living a healthy culture which
suits Bondi perfectly, you wont feel any guilt
indulging in goodness here.
Lush Bondi
Ok,
so this one we absolutely love because of their location,
they hold the spot of prime location right by the
sea, in the centre of Bondi Beach; you couldnt
get any closer for lunching on the beach if you tried.
They have a great chilled out vibe in the daytime
here with relaxing music, a beautiful decor and positive
vibes flowing.
We recommend grabbing some brekkie with an iced latte
and watching the waves go by before hitting the sand.
Or if youre looking for a late lunch stop by
for a coffee and really get sucked in to the Bondi
lifestyle.
Joe & The Juice
This
may not be what you were expecting for a list of unique
Bondi coffee shops, but this cafe was a must add even
as a chain coffee shop. Just off from the beach Joe
& The Juice is a smoothie and juice bar and really
do provide the ultimate refreshing juices; its
not in the title for nothing, they really do know
what theyre talking about here.
Their
outdoor seating area is perfect for a mid day refresher
in the shade, cleansing the palette and fixing any
dehydration from a day in the sun, get those juices
reflowing!
Were
sure enough youll be super busy checking out
our recommendations on your next visit to Bondi Beach,
and we cant wait for you to be as impressed
as we were. Whatever youre looking for, this
list of Bondi's best coffee shops will leave you feeling
super satisfied and really give you a feel for the
Bondi coffee culture that everyone is going crazy
for, enjoy!
