'The
Mouth Of The South' Jimmy Hart. Will Hart be wearing
a WWE WrestleMania themed wardrobe in New Orleans?
A
little birdy and a couple of online news websites
have given us the tip on what on the surface is a
pretty basic pro wrestling news story. Insiders and
keen observers will have already taken note - Jimmy
Hart is the former, and current, real life manager
of pro wrestling living legend Hulk Hogan. Did you
get that the first time around. Hart is Hulk Hogan's
manager.
For
the second time in four years, WrestleMania (what
Jim Ross used to call The Grand Daddy Of Them All)
will invade the Big Easy, and WWE management and wrestlers
are hoping Pensacola area fans to be in the mix of
what is tipped to be a crowd in the 100,000 range.
As
we go live over the internet tickets for the World
Wrestling Entertainment's version of the Super Bowl
are about to go on sale The mega event falls on April
8, but these days WrestleMania is not just the one
event, which sometimes goes for in the vicinity of
7 hours duration on the day, but also incorporates
almost a week of activates.
From
April 5-10, WWE makes New Orleans its base, running
six major events in consecutive days, centered around
WrestleMania 34 at the amazing Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
WWE
Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart, who rose to popularity in
the 1980s as an on-screen pro wrestling manager for
Hogan, Terry and Dory Funk, Greg "The Hammer"
Valentine, the late Adrian Adonis and many others,
made his way through Mobile, Alabama, and into Pensacola
to promote the sports entertainment extravaganza.
A
three-hour drive down Interstate 10, Hart said this
year's WrestleMania location is a convenient one for
fans from the Pensacola area looking to experience
the spectacle.
WrestleMania
30 generated $142.2 million in economic impact for
the New Orleans region last time around, according
to a study conducted by the Enigma Research Corp.
WWE
Executive Vice President of Special Events John Saboor
advised the world class facilities in New Orleans
and the great job the city did hosting festivities
in 2014 made the destination stand out during the
most recent WrestleMania bidding process.
"Facilities
become a bedrock of any community's proposal to host,"
Saboor said. "We look at a variety of elements,
including the city's leadership. Mayor (Mitch) Landrieu
is still the mayor there and is leading the local
organizing committee. His passion and his commitment
to bettering the city resonates with us in very significant
fashion."
On
Thursday, WWE holds a special WrestleMania on-sale
party on the field of the Superdome, where local fans
get the first punt at purchasing tickets before they
go on sale to the public the following day. Thursday
will feature a meet-and-greet with WWE superstars
and live, in-ring matches.
