EIGHTIES
music icons Blondie and the Pretenders are teaming
up for a series of winery shows in Australia later
this year.
Fronted
by pop legends Debbie Harry and Chrissie Hynde the
two bands will play six A Day on the Green concerts
and three other shows throughout November and December.
Organisers
say it's a world-first double-bill for the two bands.
"I
am so excited to be coming back to Australia - some
of the most fun audiences we've ever had and the beautiful
countryside," Hynde said.
"Yes,
we can't wait to rock out Down Under. See you soon
you crazy Aussies!"
Blondie's
hits such as The Tide Is High, Call Me, and Atomic
have helped them sell more than 40 million albums
worldwide.
Harry,
her songwriting partner Chris Stein and long-time
drummer Clem Burke have just completed their first
new album in six years, titled Panic Of Girls, which
is set for release later this year.
The
Pretenders, whose hits include Talk Of The Town, Back
On The Chain Gang and I'll Stand By You, last toured
Australia three years ago with a series of A Day on
the Green concerts.
Local
acts Little Red and Magic Dirt's Adalita will lend
support to the A Day On The Green gigs, which return
to the Australian countryside for a tenth year.
Blondie
and The Pretenders will play nine shows in total around
Australia between November 24 and December 14.
Tickets
for the Perth show go on sale on June 14 through ticketmaster.com.au.
Other shows go on sale on June 15 through http://www.ticketmaster.com
