Paddy Power migrates to Playtech's casino product

today launched its market leading casino product under a multi-year agreement which significantly extends its relationship with the Company.

The Playtech casino product provides Paddy Power with a comprehensive games library, comprising slots, table and card games and a wide range of branded content in both download and web-based formats. Playtech's advanced player management tools include loyalty functionality which will create significant opportunities for Paddy Power to enhance player returns.

Paddy Power is Ireland's largest bookmaker and has a substantial online presence in the UK and in continental Europe. It generates approximately 75% of its total profits through its online presence, primarily through sports-betting, games, casino, poker and bingo products. Paddy Power's relationship with the Company began in 2007 when it became a member of Playtech's iPoker network. More recently Paddy Power joined Playtech's Virtue Fusion bingo network.

Playtech acquires land-based casino software supplier - 25th January 2011

Looking to position the company as the independent software provider of choice for both the land-based and online gaming markets, Playtech Limited has acquired Intelligent Gaming Solutions (IGS), a provider of software based casino management systems to land-based casinos, in a deal worth up to £5.5m.

Playtech has entered into an agreement to acquire the entire issued share capital of IGS, which has installed casino software systems in nine casinos, including the Aspers Group properties in the UK and the Regency Casinos in Greece.

The consideration for the acquisition of IGS comprises an initial amount of £2.5m and a further consideration based on the profitability of the IGS business over the next three years, capped at a further £3.0m. The initial amount has been financed from Playtech's existing cash resources.

Playtech said that IGS has developed an enterprise-level suite of casino management software which manages table gaming, poker, and slots including cashless gaming CRM, loyalty, and cash desk operations.

The company offers operators modern scalable architecture and the ability to manage its entire gaming business information through a single application. The system delivers real-time analysis of the gaming floor and helps optimise CRM efforts, achieving enhanced player value.

For Playtech, the acquisition brings a highly regarded management team and software development capability in a business area that is complementary to its existing business, in particular subsidiary Videobet, and enhances Playtech's cross platform capability.

Playtech added that as land-based operators look to develop an online presence, the casino management system provides a gateway to the integration of both formats in an integrated and seamless solution across all channels.

“The convergence of land-based and online segments is becoming a key theme in the industry and we continue to position Playtech as the independent software provider of choice with market leading integrated technology,” said Playtech chief executive Mor Weizer. “We see this deal as increasing Playtech's unique competitive advantage and cross-platform capabilities.

“The IGS management team has a long track record in the development of such systems and we are delighted to welcome them into the Playtech family. They will enhance our capabilities in a product area which will further our attractiveness to land-based operators.”

IGS founder Martin Sykes, added: “This deal will underpin the growth of IGS and we very much look forward to the future as part of the Playtech team, contributing to the development of a leading cross-platform solution. Playtech's Videobet software has set new standards in server-supported gaming and the IGS solution will extend the Videobet portfolio throughout the land-based operation.”

Shares in Playtech Limited have gained 1.14 per cent to 420.75 pence per share in early trading in London this morning.

Playtech Can Use Marvel Legends Too

CryptoLogic's branded games will have some serious competition

March 3, 2009 (InfoPowa News) -- In a surprise move, online gambling software and games developer Playtech plc has signed a licensing agreement with Marvel Entertainment Inc. allowing it to include Marvel film properties such as The Incredible Hulk and the Fantastic Four in its branded games inventory.

The achievement means significant competition for fellow software developer CryptoLogic, which signed an agreement to use the same Marvel characters in its games last year.

The exclusive multi-year licensing agreement with Marvel Characters B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc., allows Playtech to use Marvel's motion picture brands, giving it the right to use iconic Marvel film brand legends such as "The Incredible Hulk", "Fantastic Four", "X-Men", "Iron Man" and "Blade", amongst others.

Playtech will be able to use these brands across all of its gaming products including casino, poker, bingo and on all of its platforms, online, mobile and T.V. platforms, as well as on server-based gaming terminals, via the Playtech subsidiary, Videobet.

The announcement this week that Playtech had signed a licensing agreement with Marvel Entertainment Inc. was perhaps as big a surprise as the powerful online casino software firm snatching competitor Cryptologic's biggest client, William Hill, right out from under their noses. The new deal allows Playtech to use Marvel film properties such as The Incredible Hulk and the Fantastic Four in its branded games inventory. Prior to this week, Cryptologic had the exclusive rights to the Marvel enterprise as so far as gaming goes.

Australian Media Man, Greg Tingle, told Gambling911.com: "It's about time that the powers that be at Marvel ramped up and added some healthy competition to the casinos and operators looking to do business with Marvel on the online casino side of things. "Playtech have an overall excellent reputation and they are doing business with a number of other casinos that have great service that that we make money with, so in the word's of Stan Lee, Excelsior! ... in Australian that translates to 'You beauty mate". For Cryptologic, once considered among the most stable of the online gambling entities, this is yet another setback that has culminated in boardroom strife.

On Wednesday, Cryptologic released a statement regarding the purported requisition for an extraordinary general meeting of the shareholders of CryptoLogic submitted by Mr. Javaid Aziz on 18 February 2009.

CryptoLogic received notification on 4 March 2009 from counsel to Mr. Aziz that he "does not seek to rely on" the purported requisition for an extraordinary general meeting that the company received on 18 February 2009."

Aziz had asserted that the Board of Management had effectively squandered $4.2M of shareholder funds in an abortive foreign exchange transaction.
