Playtech
Welcomes Cowboys & Aliens to the Slot Machines
Playtech
and Platinum Studios Sign Licensing Agreement for
Platinum's New York Times Best Selling Comic Book
Property Cowboy & Aliens
LOS
ANGELES, CA - 1st December 2011 - Platinum Studios,
Inc. (OTCBB: PDOS), an entertainment company that
controls an international library of more than 5,000
comic book characters which it adapts, produces and
licenses for all forms of media, is proud to announce
that it has licensed its New York Times best-selling
graphic novel "Cowboys & Aliens" to
Playtech, the international designer, developer and
licenser of software to the online and land-based
gaming industry.
As
part of a multi-year licensing deal, a Cowboys &
Aliens slot game based on the bestselling graphic
novel will be the first launch under the agreement.
For Playtech, this follows in the success of their
branded slots from Marvel Comics and currently represents
the only other comic book based property in its branded
casino game portfolio. The full launch, scheduled
for Summer 2012, will include multiple gaming sites
throughout multiple markets across the globe.
Platinum
Studios licensed the Cowboys & Aliens live action
film rights to DreamWorks, which Universal Pictures
released in North America and Paramount Pictures released
internationally. According to IMDBpro, the film has
now grossed over $170 million worldwide, not including
DVD, television and other mediums.
The
feature film version of Cowboys & Aliens is soon
to be released on Blu-ray, DVD and other formats.
The film stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia
Wilde, is directed by Jon Favreau ("Iron Man"
and "Iron Man 2"), and executive produced
by Steven Spielberg and produced by Brian Grazer,
Ron Howard, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Rosenberg.
Platinum
Studios' CEO and creator of Cowboys & Aliens,
Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, said: "Gaming is a
whole new playing field for us, and perfectly follows
Cowboys & Aliens' success at the box office."
Rosenberg also added: "I'm looking forward to
people playing Cowboys & Aliens slots from their
living room!"
Playtech's
Head of Content Sagi Harari said: "Playtech is
excited to introduce Cowboys & Aliens to the online
gaming scene. This comic book fits in well with our
existing branded games portfolio, since it is instantly
recognizable due to the great success of the movie,
and it also lends itself to visually impressive games.
Powerful branded games are in high demand, and fans
as well as casino-game players will be thrilled to
experience our new offering."
Cowboys
& Aliens, which tells the story of an alien invasion
in 19th century, is just one of the properties Platinum
Studios controls among a multi-universe library of
over 5,000 comic characters. While other large comics-based
libraries are already spoken for, Platinum Studios
remains independent of major entertainment studio
affiliation. Marvel was recently acquired by Disney
for $4 Billion, and is the second major comic library
to be acquired by a Hollywood studio. DC Comics, which
is owned by Warner Bros., recently announced a newly-revamped
business model, focusing on reaching deeper into DC's
catalog of characters.

Playtech
making its return to US gambling - 21st June 2011
Playtech
earlier today became the virgin British firm in the
online gambling - gaming sector to return to the United
States, five years after President George Bush outlawed
the industry.
The
strategic move also comes weeks after "Black
Friday" when the federal authorities indicted
three of the world's largest online poker sites, PokerStars,
Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker, on charges of
money laundering, bank fraud and violating anti-gambling
statutes. Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment, the world's
leading igaming firm, is not facing the same dramas,
having come to terms with the United States Department
Of Justice a few years ago to the tune of over a $100
million.
Playtech
and its joint-venture partner Scientific Games have
signed an agreement with the California Online Poker
Association. Copa represents 31 card clubs and 29
native tribal governments who own rights to gambling
proceeds in the state. Playtech will supply COPA with
the technology to launch "free-to-play"
online poker sites ahead of widely expected legislation
allowing state-by-state online gambling.
With
two bills before the Senate, Playtech said the timing
of when it would go live depended on the change in
regulation but could become a "very substantial
revenue source". It's estimated that two million
Californians gamble illegally on offshore online poker
websites.
Insiders
noted that competitor online UK gambling company Bwin.Party
Digital Entertainment - formally PartyGaming, paid
$105 million (£65 million) to settle with the
US authorities. Playtech was never targeted by the
US authorities.
Playtech
is also understood to be eyeing off a number of other
countries including Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Playtech
acquires land-based casino software supplier - 25th
January 2011
Looking
to position the company as the independent software
provider of choice for both the land-based and online
gaming markets, Playtech Limited has acquired Intelligent
Gaming Solutions (IGS), a provider of software based
casino management systems to land-based casinos, in
a deal worth up to £5.5m.
Playtech
has entered into an agreement to acquire the entire
issued share capital of IGS, which has installed casino
software systems in nine casinos, including the Aspers
Group properties in the UK and the Regency Casinos
in Greece.
The
consideration for the acquisition of IGS comprises
an initial amount of £2.5m and a further consideration
based on the profitability of the IGS business over
the next three years, capped at a further £3.0m.
The initial amount has been financed from Playtech's
existing cash resources.
Playtech
said that IGS has developed an enterprise-level suite
of casino management software which manages table
gaming, poker, and slots including cashless gaming
CRM, loyalty, and cash desk operations.
The
company offers operators modern scalable architecture
and the ability to manage its entire gaming business
information through a single application. The system
delivers real-time analysis of the gaming floor and
helps optimise CRM efforts, achieving enhanced player
value.
For
Playtech, the acquisition brings a highly regarded
management team and software development capability
in a business area that is complementary to its existing
business, in particular subsidiary Videobet, and enhances
Playtech's cross platform capability.
Playtech
added that as land-based operators look to develop
an online presence, the casino management system provides
a gateway to the integration of both formats in an
integrated and seamless solution across all channels.
The
convergence of land-based and online segments is becoming
a key theme in the industry and we continue to position
Playtech as the independent software provider of choice
with market leading integrated technology, said
Playtech chief executive Mor Weizer. We see
this deal as increasing Playtech's unique competitive
advantage and cross-platform capabilities.
The
IGS management team has a long track record in the
development of such systems and we are delighted to
welcome them into the Playtech family. They will enhance
our capabilities in a product area which will further
our attractiveness to land-based operators.
IGS
founder Martin Sykes, added: This deal will
underpin the growth of IGS and we very much look forward
to the future as part of the Playtech team, contributing
to the development of a leading cross-platform solution.
Playtech's Videobet software has set new standards
in server-supported gaming and the IGS solution will
extend the Videobet portfolio throughout the land-based
operation.
Shares
in Playtech Limited have gained 1.14 per cent to 420.75
pence per share in early trading in London this morning.

Investor information
Playtech
was founded in 1999 by Teddy Sagi who realized $295m
from the IPO of Playtech. The United Kingdom based
company floated early in 2006 on the London
Stock Exchange under the symbol PTEC for approximately
£550m at a flotation price of 257p.
The company's current CEO is Mor Weizer.
After the passage of the SAFE Port Act the company's
stock suffered a one-day fall of over 40%. It
subsequently recovered the losses to stand at
near its 52-week peak in February 2007. The firm
has excluded all US players from its properties.
Playtech employs over 700 people in multiple countries.
On October 22nd, 2008 Playtech announced that
it would acquire private assets from Teddy Sagi
in return for $245m. This would be the second
liquidity event for Sagi from Playtech totaling
his proceeds to $540m in cash. Sagi also controls
41% of Playtech through his investment vehicle
Brickington. (Credit:

Who
We Are
Playtech
develops unified software platforms for the online
gambling industry, primarily targeting existing
online operators wanting to upgrade their system;
sportsbooks looking to diversify and land-based
operators making their online debut. Playtech
gaming applications - online Casino, Poker, Bingo,
Mobile Gaming, Live Gaming, Land-Based Kiosk networks
and Fixed-Odds games - are fully intercompatible
and can be freely incorporated as stand-alone
applications, accessed and funded by players through
the same user account and managed by the operator
by means of a single powerful management interface.
Founded in 1999, Playtech has over 550 personnel
distributed globally, around eighty percent of
whom are engaged in research and development of
current and future gaming technologies.
Playtech
is incorporated in the British Virgin Islands.
The group's head office is located in the Isle
of Man. Its main countries of operation consist
of Estonia, Bulgaria, the Philippines and Israel.
In
March 2006 the company floated on London’s
Alternative Investment Market (AIM) making it
the world’s largest publicly traded online
gaming software supplier. Investor interest in
the IPO on both sides of the Atlantic was a clear
endorsement of the company’s product offering,
business model, client base and future prospects.
The
success of Playtech’s initial offering -
Online Casino systems - led it to expand its range
of products and platforms to include Poker, Bingo,
Mobile Gaming, Fixed-Odds Games, Live Gaming and
Land-Based Kiosk Networks. Playtech's unified
platform gives added-value by allowing operators
to market different products to different player
types while enabling the players to login and
fund several gaming activities using a single
username-password combination, without needing
to open new accounts or repeatedly register the
same credit card for each activity.
A
unique selection of games has been specially designed
by Playtech to reflect the gaming habits and cultural
nuances of players from around the world, including
a range of progressive jackpot games featuring
big prize money and interactive, animated bonus
stages. Players can choose between online RNG
games or Live videostreamed gaming, where they
play opposite live dealers who they can see, chat
with and even tip in real-time. Mobile gaming
allows for real money online play via mobile devices
while land-based kiosk systems, featuring sleek
multimedia terminals and a brandable PrePaid Card
payment system, are also available.
All
Playtech’s products support multiple currencies
and are available in several European and Asian
languages, all expertly translated by native gaming
enthusiasts using local gambling parlance.
The
Playtech gaming platform can be fully integrated
with other existing software systems. Operators
can either migrate their entire player database,
with all essential user account information remaining
intact, or can run their existing software in
tandem with the Playtech system, using a number
of proprietary mechanisms that preserve database
homogeneity and dual-system synchronization.
Playtech
works closely with clients to identify the optimum
business solution for their operation. Operators
can choose to license the gaming software on its
own and handle all day-to-day aspects of the business
in-house, or can outsource certain services –
like hardware supply and maintenance, hosting,
technical assistance and 24*7 customer support
– to Playtech’s affiliated third-party
providers. Whatever business model the operator
chooses can be easily modified to match their
future needs.
Playtech’s
clients include successful online operators who
migrated their systems to the Playtech platform
like bet365, well-known brand name casinos like
Casino Tropez and Club Dice Casino and organizations
with deep land-based roots. Playtech’s current
focus is on Europe and Asia; in the UK, the company
has strengthened its foothold in the blossoming
sportsbook industry with such household names
as The Tote and Betfred.
