Tony
Khan disinvited Ric Flair from his birthday party,
AEW plans nixed because of Dark Side of the Ring
per Mark Madden - March 28, 2022
(WrestlingNews.co)

As
was noted last night, Ric Flair and Mark Maddens
friendship has ended after 35 years and things got
pretty toxic between them on Twitter.
Among
the things said by Madden last night is that Flair
was planning on working in AEW but that changed when
the Dark Side of the Ring episode on the Plane Ride
From Hell aired.
Madden
tweeted, Ric was planning to work at AEW til
the Dark Side ep. Not sure what Tony Khan thought.
Khan doesnt talk to Ric now. Disinvited Ric
from his bday party.
Prior
to the Dark Side episode, there were tons of rumors
about Flair debuting in AEW and Flair was traveling
with Andrade El Idolo. The belief was Flair would
start as Andrades manager.
Theres
a lot more on Maddens timeline but heres
just a sample of what he has tweeted in the last few
hours.
Have
another drink. God gave you the gift of life a few
years back, &you thank him by getting ***t-faced
every single night like you are right now. You are
the greatest wrestler ever. What youve become
is sad.
Listen
I
am so sorry it came to this. But Im not the
reason it came to this. I took the high road&
he just couldnt do that. He lied to me, then
embarrassed me. ***k that. I dont give a ***k
who he is.
Ive
got 5 DMs from wrestlers using words like petty
and pathetic. And not in reference to
me.
I
still love @MsCharlotteWWE &will always root for
her. I have much respect for @HeyHeyItsConrad. But
this has nothing to do with them.
He
was never my friend. He actually said that tonight
in a phone msg.

Pat
McAfee cites Bobby Heenan, Roddy Piper, and Jerry
The King Lawler as commentary influences

Pat
McAfee stopped by Busted Open today to
talk about his upcoming WrestleMania match, the pressure
he is feeling, and how his chemistry with Michael
Cole came about.
Pat
McAfee was asked to tell about the most pressure he
ever felt in one particular moment on a football field
and compare that to what hes about to experience
going into WrestleMania and having a match in Texas
Stadium?
McAfee
responded, I kicked off a Super Bowl. That was
something that you hear about, and obviously theres
hundreds and hundreds of millions of people watching
around the globe. The opening kickoff is that sequence
where everybodys taking photos.
I
believe the Saints won the toss. I was playing for
the Colts. It was my rookie year, so Im 22 or
21 years old, and my family is there. Its in
Miami.
He
continued, They win the toss. They elect to
receive. Im like, Well, here we go. Im
kicking off the damn Super Bowl. When youre
walking out there, I see the ref. The ref is even
nervous. His eyes are big. He gives me the ball. I
put it down. The sky cam is right in my face. That
thing zooms out. Im like, damn, my face just
got a close up to hundreds of millions of people.
But
then whenever I go back for my steps to kick off the
Super Bowl, I look to my right. Theres 10 guys,
five on each side of me. Were about to do this
thing. The guy whos on my right closest to me,
his eyes are taped open. I mean, youre talking
like, wide open, almost like you just saw a ghost.
I look to my left and that guys eyes are wide
open. Then I kind of take a look around, and Im
like, Damn, Im in the Super Bowl.
So as I take my steps towards the ball, all the flashes
start going.
I
kick it, not a bad kick. But I think at that moment,
it was the first time I ever felt like, Oh my
God. This is a massive moment.'
Thats
exactly what Im expecting this weekend. This
is something thats going to live forever. I
know that in the WWE Universe on the WWE Network,
its going to be something my kids will hopefully
see some day. That is something that I understand,
and Ive always enjoyed those moments.
McAfee
was asked if he feels his chemistry with Michael Cole
happened instantaneously.
We
got to remember that Cole was the one that called
me and gave me the kickoff panel opportunity for NXT,
like four years ago. So Cole and I have known each
other for four years at this point, whenever I get
in there and get to do my job.
People
say, like, Hey, youre a natural,
which I appreciate. Ive been watching wrestling,
listening to the commentators for like 25 years now
at this point. So I dont want to say that I
was just able to drop in and just do it. I feel like
Ive been preparing for a lot of these things
for a long time.
I
feel like I knew that it was inevitably going to come
that I was going to be into the wrestling business.
Thats why I bought a ring my second year in
the NFL, and I have it. So I was very fortunate that
Im a communicator. My brain normally does pretty
well with speaking, but also that I was such a big
fan. Ive watched it for so long.
Then
I would go back and watch some film before I got into
Smackdown commentary on (Bobby) Heenan, on (Roddy)
Piper when he was doing it, on the King (Jerry Lawler).
I mean, theres just a lot of things that I would
listen to. Why are they saying what theyre saying?
How are they saying what theyre saying? What
are they trying to do with their words? Why are they
trying to do that with their words, and now I have
to do that in my way.
So
I feel like Ive been very fortunate that Ive
gotten to see a lot of greats do their job, and Im
in there as well. The blueprint has kind of been laid.

News 'They
should move to any other night, get away from us' - Chris Jericho slams WWE with
a bold statement - 4th September 2020
"They
lost! There's nothing wrong with conceiting defeat and moving to a different night."
Chris Jericho had a lot more to say. There
are rumors about WWE possibly moving NXT to a different night. AEW
Dynamite and NXT have aired on different days for the past few weeks. As expected,
the results have been quite positive for both companies. Both shows have drawn
huge numbers without any competition, and there is also talk about NXT possibly
moving out from the Wednesday slot. Chris Jericho, who has always been on the
offensive when it comes to AEW's ratings victories over WWE, has sent another
bold message to the WWE.
During
a recent appearance on the Busted
Open radio show, the Demo God addressed the rumors of WWE contemplating a
change of day for NXT. Chris
Jericho said that he wasn't surprised that the WWE was planning on retreating
from the Wednesday Night Wars. The AEW Superstar sent a direct message to his
former employers that they should move to another night. Chris Jericho felt that
WWE had a great program, and their spiteful tactic of going up against AEW was
only hurting NXT's ratings. Chris
Jericho says WWE should just conceit defeat Chris
Jericho declared that AEW isn't going anywhere and that Dynamite would continue
to beat NXT. Jericho felt that WWE retreating is the right move from a business
standpoint. 'Le Champion' isn't bothered about NXT breaching the 800k or 900k
barriers as he and AEW are focussed on getting over the 1 million mark. He also
spoke about the importance of the 18-49 demographic. Chris
Jericho said that the WWE lost, and there is nothing wrong for them to conceit
defeat. The former AEW World Champion concluded by proclaiming that no one can
stop All Elite Wrestling. Here's
Chris Jericho's full statement on the rumors of WWE moving to another night and
the ongoing ratings war: "Once
again, it was never a war for me. This is a war that was thrust upon us by a company
that is very petty and very spiteful, and we know the reason why NXT was moved
to Wednesday nights. To mess with us. We get it. We pay attention to what we are
doing. We don't care what they're doing, and we have no interest in it. If you
watch us, you get the ratings, where we beat them week after week. We beat them
in the demos where people think it's jokes. The only thing that matters is the
TV networks and advertisers that listed the 18-49 demo. Look it up. We win every
week. They should retreat. They should move to any other night. Get away from
us! You guys got a great program, and it's good; why would you want to sacrifice
your own ratings just to be spiteful and petty to go head to head with AEW? We're
not going anywhere and put on anything you want - we'll continue to beat you.
It is a retreat, but it's also the right move from a business standpoint. Get
your head out of your rear end and just worry about your product the same way
we worry about ours. If they move to Tuesday, smart move. That way, you guys can
get your 850 thousand, 900 thousand. Whatever! Get 10 million viewers. Congratulations!
Let us do our thing, and we'll get over a million. I think it's a smart move business-wise
on theirs. They lost! There's nothing wrong with conceiting defeat, moving to
a different night, and worrying about your show and not worrying about going head
to head with AEW because you can't stop us." H/t WrestlingInc While
Chris Jericho is just doing his job of putting over AEW, many fans would argue
that both shows airing on different nights would be the right decision as they
can watch both shows. The ratings and viewership figures from the past few weeks
have proven that putting out shows on separate days could be ideal for moving
forward. Also,
don't forget to check out the latest interview from Sportskeeda in which our very
own Gary Cassidy caught up with Chris Jericho. The legendary star discussed a
plethora of topics, including the possibility of Brock Lesnar coming to AEW, the
origins of his nickname, Jon Moxley, Orange Cassidy, and much more. *click
