Netflix Stock Falls After Analyst Questions Potential Warner Bros. Discovery Bid

Morgan Stanley’s Benjamin Swinburne argued the streaming giant may see longterm benefits, but risks a tough regulatory path and small synergy opportunities.
https://hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/netflix-stock-falls-warner-bros-discovery-bid-1236431439/

Shares in Netflix on Wednesday stumbled after Morgan Stanley analyst Benjamin Swinburne questioned the value to the streaming giant from potentially bidding to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery and prized properties like DC Comics and the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings franchises.

While such a transaction may have long-term benefits for Netflix, Swinburne wrote the streamer “may have the smallest synergy opportunity and perhaps the toughest regulatory path” to completing the deal. He added in a Nov. 19 investors note that “Netflix shares have been under pressure over concerns that a WB acquisition, if announced, would complicate the investment thesis, distract management, and/or dilute EPS.”

Shares in Netflix fell by $4.51, or 4 percent, to $109.57 in afternoon trading after Swinburne weighed in on an ongoing bidding contest for WBD. That also came as Wall Street chatter points to Paramount, led by CEO David Ellison, as the frontrunner and preferred buyer, even as bids from Comcast and Netflix are said to be in the works and could face hurdles due to U.S. President Trump’s personal views on those companies.

Preliminary bids for WBD are due this week, and Paramount, Comcast and Netflix have expressed interest in either pieces of the company or the whole company. Swinburne has recently been bullish on Netflix for its potential advertising revenue upside and engagement growth. (Full article and coverage via The Hollywood Reporter)

Studios Are Spending Big Again — Just Not On Hollywood

Disney and Paramount are opening their wallets for 2026, but it’s sports and international content that may see the money.
https://hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/hollywood-content-spending-2026-1236430447/

Writers, actors and producers across Hollywood could be forgiven for thinking they got an early Christmas present in November. After all, Paramount, now under the ownership of David Ellison, committed to upping its content spend by some $1.5 billion next year. Disney followed in short order, revealing Nov. 13 plans to pump an extra $1 billion into its content pipeline in fiscal 2026, to total $24 billion.

After years of stagnation (and in many cases declines) in content spending from entertainment giants, the cash spigot appears to be turning on once more. Or, as Ellison told Wall Street analysts in his first earnings call as Paramount CEO, “We need to increase our investments, obviously, in content.”

The public positioning comes at a tumultuous moment for Hollywood, with Ellison (and Comcast CEO Brian Roberts) coveting Warner Bros. Discovery. The entire industry remains at an inflection point, with major deals and strategic positioning up in the air.

“We believe [Paramount] has the potential to be a dynamic global media company,” Bank of America analyst Jessia Reif Ehrlich wrote in a note after its earnings report. “However, there are no easy fixes and a turnaround such as this will take a significant amount of time, require substantial investment and investor patience.”

Much of that investment, it seems, once again will flow to content. The public maneuvering from Disney and Paramount follow Netflix’s callout of a $1.6 billion or so increase in 2025 to about $18 billion, with CFO Spencer Neumann declaring at an investor conference this year, “We’re not anywhere near a ceiling.” (Full article and coverage via The Hollywood Reporter)

Donald Trump Says “We’ll Sue” the BBC Over Panorama Doc Edit

Bringing legal action follows the U.K. broadcaster apologizing to the U.S. president for a doctored speech, but rejecting any compensation.
https://hollywoodreporter.com/news/politics-news/donald-trump-sue-bbc-1236427832/

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed he will bring a lawsuit against the BBC over an edited speech of his in a Panorama documentary.

“We’ll sue them. We’ll sue them for anywhere between a billion and five billion dollars, probably sometime next week,” he told reporters on Air Force One on Friday night, according to White House audio of the press opportunity posted to YouTube.

Trump was responding to a question from a British reporter over the BBC apologizing for the documentary edit in its Trump: A Second Chance? program, but rejecting any basis for compensation.

“I have to do it. I mean, they’ve even admitted that they cheated. I mean, not that they couldn’t have not done that. They cheated. They changed the words coming out of my mouth. That’s worse than what CBS did with Kamala,” Trump said.

A BBC spokesperson on Thursday, in a statement, said “BBC chair Samir Shah has separately sent a personal letter to the White House making clear to President Trump that he and the corporation are sorry for the edit of the President’s speech on 6 January 2021, which featured in the program.”

The U.K. broadcaster’s statement added: “While the BBC sincerely regrets the manner in which the video clip was edited, we strongly disagree there is a basis for a defamation claim.”

Trump, in his press encounter on Air Force One on Friday, said he would discuss the issue with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer this weekend, and asserted, “the people of the U.K. are very angry about what happened as you can imagine because it shows the BBC is fake news.” (Full article and coverage via The Hollywood Reporter)

TKO Raises Guidance and Beats the Street in Q3 After Flurry of Dealmaking

Revenue declined slightly at UFC due to one less numbered event, but the company still recorded a healthy profit in its latest earnings report.
https://hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/ufc-wwe-owner-tko-earnings-new-rights-deals-1236419071/

TKO Group Holdings, the company that owns UFC, WWE and IMG, among other businesses, once again raised its outlook for the year and saw net income and adjusted EBITDA rise thanks to a particularly strong quarter from WWE. The company beat Wall Street estimates in the process.

The company reported Q3 earnings Wednesday after cutting a flurry of deals in the last few months, including a $7.7 billion UFC deal with Paramount, a WWE deal with ESPN valued at $325 million per year, and new rights deals for Professional Bull Riders and Zuffa boxing (also with Paramount) among others. Paramount Cuts Another Deal With TKO for Streaming Rights to ‘Unleash the Beast’ PBR Tour

The David Ellison-led studio has recently inked major deals with TKO for UFC and boxing rights.
https://hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/paramount-tko-pbr-unleash-the-beast-tour-rights-1236418840/

David Ellison’s Paramount has cut another deal with TKO Group Holdings.

The media company on Wednesday said that it had inked a five-year rights deal with Professional Bull Riders to make Paramount+ the streaming home of Unleash the Beast, PBR’s flagship tour. The Unleash the Beast 2026 season kicks off on Dec. 12.

It is worth noting that Paramount was already in business with PBR, with CBS Sports holding rights through 2030, including for a game of the week. But the new deal greatly expands on that, and follows a string of deals that Paramount has done with TKO, including a massive $7.7 billion UFC deal, which has since been expanded to include Latin America, Australia and other territories, as well as a deal for Zuffa boxing, the new boxing league that TKO is launching alongside Sela and Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority.

“This deal aligns with our longstanding relationship with CBS and reflects our shared commitment to expanding PBR’s reach,” said Sean Gleason, PBR CEO and commissioner, in a statement. “We are excited to continue this extraordinary partnership and thrilled that this new deal, bolstered by Paramount+, will bring our sport to an even broader audience.”

“CBS Sports has been the home of PBR for decades, and we are proud to deepen our partnership by bringing the Unleash the Beast series to our expanding streaming audience on Paramount+,” added Dan Weinberg, executive vp of programming for CBS Sports. “This extension enables us to extend our reach, delivering dynamic PBR content to an even wider audience.” (Full article and coverage via THR)

Why UFC Boss Dana White Is the Most “Untouchable” Whale in Las Vegas

The Ultimate Fighting mogul — whose gambling exploits are so wild they are going to be the subject of a Netflix doc — once apparently lost $30 million at the tables. But when the house is owned by your BFF billionaire business partners, is anyone really going to make you pay?

https://hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/dana-white-vegas-gambling-lifestyle-1236417802/

Recently, a Netflix production crew has been following Dana White around Las Vegas for a yet-to-be-announced unscripted project about his wild gambling exploits. He’s the ideal protagonist: a voluble, larger-than-life high roller whom its cameras have caught on at least one occasion up more than $800,000 at the Bellagio.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship boss — and Donald Trump confidant — has become a folk hero for his storied gambling sessions at Sin City casinos. His adrenalized exploits, primarily at blackjack, are much discussed across the modern-day saloon culture, often dubbed the manosphere. (Full article via THR)

Disney-YouTube Blackout Set to Continue Through Weekend

“When will ESPN and ABC be back on the service? We wish we could give you that answer today, but unfortunately, we are headed into another sports-packed weekend without a deal in place,” the memo from Disney executives reads.
https://hollywoodreporter.com/business/digital/disney-youtube-blackout-set-to-continue-through-weekend-1236421208/

The carriage dispute between YouTube TV and Disney appears set to continue.

In a note sent to employees Friday, Disney Entertainment co-chairs Dana Walden and Alan Bergman and ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro said there is no deal yet in place between the two providers. ABC, ESPN and other Disney outlets have not been on YouTube TV since Oct. 31 as a result of the dispute, which in turn appears to have impacted ratings for the networks.

“When will ESPN and ABC be back on the service? We wish we could give you that answer today, but unfortunately, we are headed into another sports-packed weekend without a deal in place,” the memo reads. (Full article via THR)

An Ad Tier for Apple TV? The Tech Giant Buying Warner Bros.? Don’t Bet on It, Eddy Cue Says

The tech executive appeared to dismiss the long-rumored moves in an interview with Screen International.
https://hollywoodreporter.com/business/digital/apple-wbd-ad-tier-apple-tv-eddy-cue-1236421535/

Amid all the chatter surrounding the future of Warner Bros. Discovery, one company has been noted over and over again as a possible buyer, even as management has remained silent: Apple.

The tech giant’s Apple TV service remains a smaller player in a sea of streaming giants and wannabe giants, and speculation has been rampant that the Warner Bros. film and TV studios, as well as HBO, could help it turbocharge its ambitions in entertainment.

At the same time, Apple TV is the only major streaming service that does not have an advertising-supported tier. While Apple does sell ads on live sports like MLS and (soon) Formula 1, it has steerd clear of the strategy embraced by everyone else of selling a lower-priced tier with ads. (Full article via THR)

TKO Group Holdings beat Wall Street expectations in its first quarter earnings report, with the WWE‘s new media rights deal with Netflix, strong live event performance at UFC and WWE, and significant growth in partnerships at both brands helping the company set itself up for what it hopes will be a strong 2025.

The company reported revenues of $1.3 billion, with net income of $166 million and adjusted EBITDA of $417 million, all substantial improvements from a year ago. The company also raised its full year 2025 guidance to revenue of between $3.005 billion to $3.075 billion, from $2.930 billion to $3.000 billion, and adjusted EBITDA to $1.390 billion to $1.430 billion, from $1.350 billion to $1.390 billion, excluding the IMG businesses. Amazon Paid $20 Million for Control of James Bond, But There’s Fine Print That Isn’t Public

A filing in the U.K. from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson's EON Productions disclosed the sale price Wednesday.
https://hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/amazon-james-bond-franchise-purchase-price-1236407279/

How expensive is it for one of the world’s largest tech companies to secure control of the world’s most famous spy? About $20 million.

In February, Amazon announced that it had struck a deal with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the longtime stewards of the James Bond franchise, to give the tech company full control over the character and its related intellectual property.

Now a new tax filing for EON Productions in the U.K. puts a number on that sale price, and it is significantly lower than what many observers may have thought. While the filing focuses on the company’s 2024 financials, a section on subsequent events notes that:

“On 20 February 2025, the company entered into an agreement for the sale of its interest in the Bond franchise, all associated assets as well as its subsidiary companies, B24 Limited and B25 Limited. The total consideration for the sale amounted to $20 million (USD).” (THR)

Netflix Revenues Keep Surging as Streaming Giant Hits Key Wall Street Expectations

It reported total revenues of $11.5 billion, operating income of $3.2 billion and a margin of 28.2 percent, all up double digits from a year ago.
https://hollywoodreporter.com/business/digital/netflix-profits-grow-q3-wbd-rumors-1236406222/

Netflix saw its profits continue to surge in the third quarter, though margins missed the company’s own guidance due to an unusual dispute with tax authorities in Brazil. The company said that were it not for the Brazil matter, it would have beat its forecast, and that it does not expect it to have a material impact on future results.

The streaming giant reported total revenues of $11.5 billion, operating income of $3.2 billion and a margin of 28.2 percent, all up double digits from a year ago.

Netflix is no longer releasing its subscriber figures, choosing instead to put its focus on revenue and income, as it experiments with different revenue models like advertising and with the price of subscriptions in different markets remaining somewhat variable.

“We recorded our best ad sales quarter ever. We’re now on track to more than double ad revenue this year,” Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters told analysts during an after-market call. He added the company doubled its U.S. Upfront commitments stretching into 2026, and Netflix is driving additional growth in programmatic advertising sales as the streamer offered more ways to buy advertising and measure outcomes.

“We’re getting our legs underneath us, we’re making a good pace, but we’ve got a lot ahead of us to do and, quite frankly, we expect we’re going to be able to move more quickly than other streamers,” Peters added.

Co-CEO Ted Sarandos also underlined innovation at Netflix to drive growth: “As a company, we’ve always embraced change. We thrive on competition pushing us to improve the service even faster for our members.” (THR)

Movie News

Here’s the latest movie news based on current updates as of April 11, 2025:

The Cannes Film Festival 2025 lineup has been unveiled, featuring an impressive slate of films competing for the Palme d’Or. Highlights include Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme, Richard Linklater’s latest project, Ari Aster’s Eddington (starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler), and Julia Ducournau’s new work. Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind, a Vietnam War-era art-heist drama with Josh O’Connor and John Magaro, and Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value with Renate Reinsve are also in competition. The festival opens with the French comedy-drama Leave One Day by Amélie Bonnin, while Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut Eleanor the Great will premiere in the Un Certain Regard section. Juliette Binoche will head the jury, and Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will screen out of competition on May 14, ahead of its May 23 global release.

Meanwhile, A Minecraft Movie continues to dominate headlines, having shattered box office records with a $163 million domestic opening—the biggest ever for a video game adaptation—surpassing The Super Mario Bros Movie. Its global debut reached $313.2 million, boosted by a $14.7 million opening in China. The film’s success has revitalized the 2025 box office, which had been lagging, and sparked viral moments like the “chicken jockey” scene, reflecting Hollywood’s push to engage younger audiences through social media trends. However, its rowdy screenings have prompted theaters to issue warnings against disruptive behavior.

Elsewhere, Thunderbolts, Marvel’s upcoming film featuring Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Sebastian Stan, is tracking for a $70 million U.S. opening, per recent reports. On the streaming front, action-comedy Novocaine starring Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder is now available on PVOD and has been hailed as a standout for 2025, while Netflix’s Back in Action with Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz has climbed to No. 6 on its Most Popular English Film chart with 144.6 million views. Box Office Movie News

The box office landscape in early April 2025 has been dominated by a few key players, with some surprises and disappointments shaping the narrative.

A Minecraft Movie continues to be the standout, pulling in a massive $162.75 million domestically during its opening weekend, making it the biggest debut of the year and the largest ever for a video game adaptation. Its second weekend is projected to hold strong, with estimates ranging from $65 million to $82 million, despite a typical 50-60% drop. The film’s success, driven by stars Jack Black and Jason Momoa, has been a much-needed jolt for Hollywood, especially after a sluggish first quarter. Its global appeal, including a strong showing in markets like China, underscores its broad draw, fueled by the game’s massive fanbase and spring break timing.

On the other hand, Disney’s live-action Snow White remake has struggled, barely scraping past $40 million domestically after a steep 60% drop in its second weekend. With a $270 million budget, it’s shaping up to be one of Disney’s weakest live-action reboots, underperforming compared to even 2019’s Dumbo. Controversies around casting and story changes, plus mixed reviews calling it insubstantial, haven’t helped its case.

In the Indian market, Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly has kicked off with a bang, raking in an estimated Rs 35-40 crore on its opening day, April 10. Strong pre-sales of Rs 17 crore in Tamil Nadu alone and packed theaters suggest it’s riding high on fan excitement, with potential to grow if word of mouth stays positive. Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s Sikandar is faltering, crossing Rs 105 crore after 11 days but losing steam with a lukewarm response and competition from Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan, which has hit Rs 102.35 crore in two weeks and shows no signs of slowing.

Looking ahead, The King of Kings from Angel Studios is building buzz with nearly $8 million in pre-sales for its April 11 release, aiming to capitalize on the faith-based and family-friendly wave. Newcomers like The Amateur and Drop are entering the fray this weekend, but they’re expected to trail behind Minecraft’s continued dominance.

The industry’s mood is cautiously optimistic—Minecraft proves audiences are still hungry for big theatrical experiences, but flops like Snow White and Sikandar highlight the risks of misjudging audience expectations. With summer blockbusters like Thunderbolts and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning on the horizon, studios are hoping to sustain this momentum. (Grok)

Streaming Movie News

This month has brought a fresh wave of movies to various streaming platforms, catering to a wide range of tastes. On Netflix, new releases include "One of Them Days," a comedy featuring Keke Palmer and SZA, and "The Life List," a heartfelt romantic drama starring Sofia Carson that’s topping charts and resonating with Gen Z audiences. Netflix is also set to premiere "Caos e Destruição" (Chaos and Destruction), an action-packed film with Tom Hardy, on April 25, and "O Eternauta," a series based on the comic of the same name starring Ricardo Darín, on April 30. Meanwhile, horror fans have a limited window to catch "Hereditary," dubbed by some as one of the most disturbing films of recent years, before it leaves Netflix in about 10 days.

Other platforms are also buzzing with new additions. "Mickey 17," a sci-fi film directed by Bong Joon-ho and starring Robert Pattinson, dropped on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services like Amazon and Apple TV on April 8 and is now available to stream on Max.

Novocaine," an action-comedy that’s been praised for its fun factor, also hit PVOD recently, offering an adrenaline-packed option for viewers. Prime Video has "G20," featuring Viola Davis, joining its lineup this week, while "Black Bag," a Steven Soderbergh-directed thriller with Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender, is newly available on digital and on-demand services.

For those looking for fresh theatrical releases now streaming, "The Monkey," a horror film by Osgood Perkins, and "A Minecraft Movie," directed by Jared Hess with Jack Black and Jason Momoa, are making waves. The latter has sparked some controversy with rowdy audience behavior at screenings going viral, prompting cinemas like one in Witney to issue warnings. On the international front, Netflix offers titles like the Taiwanese horror-comedy "The Rookie" and the Tamil-language road trip film by P.S. Vinothraj, adding diverse flavors to the streaming mix.

With April showering subscribers with options across Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Max, and more, there’s plenty to explore, from blockbuster action to indie gems. What are you planning to watch next? (Grok)

Wrestling Movies

Wrestling movies span a range of genres, from gritty dramas to lighthearted comedies, capturing the intensity, passion, and sometimes the absurdity of the sport. Here’s a rundown of some notable ones, focusing on both professional and amateur wrestling, with a mix of tones and styles.

Starting with professional wrestling, The Wrestler (2008) is often considered a standout. Mickey Rourke plays a washed-up pro wrestler grappling with aging, health issues, and a fading career. It’s raw, emotional, and doesn’t shy away from the toll the industry takes on its performers—physically and personally. Rourke’s performance earned him an Oscar nomination, and the film’s depiction of the indie wrestling scene feels authentic, almost like a documentary at times.

The Iron Claw (2023) dives into the tragic true story of the Von Erich family, a dynasty in 1980s pro wrestling. Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White star as brothers Kevin and David, pushed to their limits by their domineering father. It’s a heavy, heartbreaking look at ambition, family bonds, and the curse of expectations, with intense wrestling sequences that capture the era’s regional promotions. The film balances action with emotional depth, making it resonate even if you’re not a wrestling fan.

For something lighter, Nacho Libre (2006) is a cult favorite. Jack Black plays a Mexican monk who becomes a luchador to raise money for orphans. It’s quirky, hilarious, and leans into the colorful pageantry of lucha libre. The humor’s absurd, but the heart of the story—underdog chasing dreams—keeps it grounded. It’s not deep, but it’s endlessly rewatchable.

Fighting with My Family (2019) blends comedy and drama, chronicling the real-life rise of WWE superstar Paige, played by Florence Pugh. It follows her journey from a scrappy British wrestling family to the big leagues, with a focus on her bond with her brother, who doesn’t make it. Dwayne Johnson pops up as himself, adding charm, and the film nails the mix of humor and hustle in the wrestling world.

On the amateur side, Foxcatcher (2014) is a chilling drama based on true events. Steve Carell, in a rare serious role, plays eccentric millionaire John du Pont, who sponsors Olympic wrestlers Mark and Dave Schultz (Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo). It’s less about wrestling matches and more about power, obsession, and psychological unraveling. The performances are haunting, and it shows the darker side of athletic pursuit.

Vision Quest (1985) is a classic for high school wrestling fans. Matthew Modine stars as a teen wrestler chasing a state title while navigating love and self-discovery. It’s got that ‘80s coming-of-age vibe, complete with a killer soundtrack (think Madonna and Journey). The wrestling scenes are gritty, emphasizing the sport’s physical grind.

For a wildcard, Ready to Rumble (2000) is a guilty pleasure. David Arquette and Scott Caan play diehard wrestling fans trying to save their favorite pro wrestler’s career. It’s over-the-top, silly, and packed with WCW stars like Goldberg and Sting. It’s not high art, but it captures the chaotic energy of late ‘90s wrestling fandom.

Each of these films highlights different facets of wrestling—whether it’s the sacrifice, the spectacle, or the community. If you’re after more specific recommendations, like focusing on pro vs. amateur or a particular vibe (serious, funny, etc.), let me know what you’re in the mood for. (Grok)

Donald Trump to Headline Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville

July 11, 2024

Former President Donald Trump has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the upcoming Bitcoin 2024 conference set to take place in Nashville, Tennessee.

This news comes as a significant development for the event, known for its major industry announcements and influential speakers. The conference, which has previously been hosted in Miami, has established itself as a platform for groundbreaking news within the cryptocurrency space.

Bitcoin 2021, the inaugural conference, made headlines when El Salvador officially declared Bitcoin as legal tender. The subsequent Bitcoin 2022 and Bitcoin 2023 conferences continued the trend of notable moments, including a powerful speech by U.S. Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in support of the Bitcoin industry.

This year, the shift of the conference location from Miami to Nashville signifies its increasing prominence on the global stage. With two former U.S. Presidential candidates, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump, slated to speak, Bitcoin 2024 is anticipated to be a pivotal event that could potentially impact the future trajectory of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency policies in the United States.

Donald Trump’s participation in the conference is especially noteworthy considering his recent engagements with the Bitcoin community. Earlier this year, Trump met with prominent U.S. Bitcoin miners, including representatives from CleanSpark, where he reiterated his support for Bitcoin mining both domestically and internationally. In a statement, Trump pledged to prioritize the development of Bitcoin and crypto initiatives in the United States and safeguard the rights of the nation’s 50 million crypto holders if re-elected as president.

As Trump embarks on his presidential campaign, his alignment with the Bitcoin industry stands in contrast to the position of his potential rival, President Joe Biden, who has shown less enthusiasm towards the cryptocurrency sector. While Biden’s participation in Bitcoin 2024 remains unconfirmed, the event could underscore the divergent approaches of the two candidates towards Bitcoin and its implications for U.S. policies.

For additional details on the Bitcoin 2024 conference and to secure a discounted ticket using a promotional code, interested individuals can visit the official event website. Bitcoin Magazine, a subsidiary of BTC Inc, the organizer of the largest Bitcoin conference, The Bitcoin Conference, will be overseeing the event.

SURVIVOR SERIES NEWS: NXT stars debut in PPV main event angle, plus other news from annual PPV - 18th November 2012

-- NXT champion Seth Rollins (formerly Tyler Black), Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns debuted on WWE TV by attacking Ryback and preventing him from capturing the WWE Title in the Survivor Series PPV main event.

Rollins, Ambrose, and Reigns were identified by announcer Michael Cole as being from the NXT Developmental system. After they took out Ryback via powerbomb through the Spanish announce table, Punk pinned John Cena, who had received Shell Shock from Ryback before Ryback was taken out by the NXT trio.

-- No titles changed hands during the PPV. In the other top title match, Sheamus beat Big Show via DQ after Show pulled referee Scott Armstrong in the way of a Brogue Kick. Sheamus then delivered a massive beat down to Show using a chair, which likely sets up a World Title re-match at the TLC PPV next month.

-- In the other title matches, Antonio Cesaro retained the U.S. Title over Kofi Kingston and Eve retained the Divas Title over Kaitlyn.

-- In the top Survivor Series elimination match, Dolph Ziggler pinned Randy Orton to be the sole survivor for Team Ziggler over Team Foley. Earlier in the show, WWE teased tension between Orton and Mick Foley, playing up their historical feud from Orton's early days. Also earlier in the show, David Otunga was named as Cody Rhodes's replacement on Team Ziggler following Rhodes's injury at last week's Smackdown TV taping.

-- Tamina, who recently trained with The Rock, returned to WWE TV as Vickie Guerrero's hired bodyguard. The set-up was that A.J. Lee noted that if Vickie places her hands on her, then Vickie will be removed as interim Raw authority figure. Tamina then blindsided A.J. and Superfly Splashed her to establish her new role as Vickie's enforcer (Pro Wrestling Torch)

Wrestling News Flashback

Brock Lesnar vs Jon 'Bones' Jones being speculated by sports media commentators; Will WWE top brass make it happen for WrestleMania

For months there's been speculation running rampant about the potential match up of Brock Lesnar aka 'The Beast' vs Jon 'Bones' Jones.

Due to Jones recent drug testing fail it would appear that the obvious place for the match up to happen would be under the WWE umbrella, and what better event to have it take place than WrestleMania.

WWE is always looking for unique, high interest (and grossing) main event matches, and there's little doubt that this dream match would draw massive publicity, and would certainly help sell out an arena (and boost WWE Network subscriber numbers at the same time).

Would the risk of booking such a dream match be worth the potential risk and payoff? Only a few select top brass in the WWE would know, those individuals would be the likes of Vince McMahon and Triple H. Pat Patterson would possibly be in the decision making also, and could very well help book the match, should it be scripted, as all WWE matches are. Or, would the WWE just have these men fight for real? Problem is if its for real, as the WWF Brawl For All was, both men could get seriously hurt and be out of action for many months. Then again, both men would be part-times and are special attractions, so it's not like they have to be out on the road going to arena to arena, following such a bout.

There's also talk whether UFC / MMA sensation Conor McGregor may seriously look at one or more matches under the WWE banner no matter what the result from his clash with Floyd 'Money' Mayweather, who is not a stranger to the WWE ring, having previously fought and beat 'The Big Show' at WrestleMania 24.

It's certainly interesting times for the WWE / Sports Entertainment - MMA - Boxing connection.

Let's all hope that a Lesnar vs Jones and the upcoming McGregor vs Mayweather fight surpass the infamous Ali vs Inoki match from 1976.

As Bruce Buffer says, Let's get ready to rumble. Let's now cross to ringside with Mauro Ranallo for the call of the action.
